only in Rhode Island

Had a double date with me and TJ and my friend Katie and her young son.

Went to Pastiche for dessert and hot chocolate.

Was so much fun and very cute. TJ's only 4 and he's not quite at the point where it's easy for him to just appreciate relaxing in a public eatery. He's not quite there, yet, he was a little too excited in the restaurant. Announced loudly "no more boogers!" after blowing his nose. Then decided it was a good time to show us his all his best tongue tricks (he can twist it, curl it and touch his nose with it). Once the Spiderman math flash cards came out, they settled into a much more civilized place.

As we were leaving, we noticed some people in a park, looking down at something. As we peeked over the bushes, we saw they were playing bocce!

TJ wanted to go watch, so we did, and they invited the two kids to play. They had Italian music playing on an ipod and the sun was just starting to set. My friend's son told us to look at it and declared it "beautiful."

Watching them play bocce with the adults and seeing their little faces light up when they did well made the night even sweeter than a double date with two moms and their sons.

Katie:

Made sweeter still by your writing. "Beautiful."
