Julia, my dream baby, is a great sleeper. We put her down in her crib, her thumb goes into her mouth, her rainbow knit blankie goes up just under her chin and she usually settles right down. This, by the way, is the only time she sucks her thumb, when she sleeps.
When she wants something, she lets us know. She doesn't leave anything to be guessed. She yells until she gets what she wants. She drops her milk, she yells until it's picked up. TJ takes a toy from her, she yells until she gets it back, although sometimes she will be forgiving or will forget about it and will crawl very quickly, at least 100 mph to her next destination.
When she wakes up, I walk into her room and observe her crazy antics. She sees me, does a few flips of joy in the crib, then stands up and I pick her up. She looks in the mirror, and usually does the sign for cat. Sometimes I get a few pats on my back, sometimes an all out hug.
Today she very clearly does not want to leave her crib, she's pointing and yelling. I pick up her blankie and give it to her. She gives it a hug and a few pats and me a big smile.
Later on during the day, she crawls to her crib and is reaching in, trying to get the blankie. She cannot reach it, so I hand it to her. She places it on the floor and lays down and cuddles up on it.
It's love.
